Franklin Templeton Shootout
Although the golf was compelling at this year’s Franklin Templeton Shootout with a marquee list of names in the field including Zach Johnson, Graeme McDowell and Matt Kuchar, 2015 was special for an entirely different reason.
13-year-old cancer survivor Kyle Lograsso, who was the tournament's childhood cancer honoree in 2007, returned this year to celebrate 10 years of living cancer free. He gave a speech to a select crowd at Wednesday night's Franklin Templeton Shootout banquet and those lucky enough to listen-in heard both sides of his reality. What it's like to beat cancer. And what it's like when cancer wins.

Greg Norman's Shootout has had childhood cancer research, now known as CureSearch, as the official charity since it started 27 years ago.
"At the end of the day, with all of the efforts everybody does and their contributions, to see Kyle’s story shine like it's shining, and to see him have the opportunity of having a healthy, full life, is worth every ounce of energy and every penny you put in."

GNGCD Hits the Pro Circuit
2015 was a huge year for Greg Norman Golf Course Design. On the heels of celebrating our 100th golf course opening, we were fortunate enough to have had the honor of hosting six professional tournaments on our courses around the world.

In November, we had a strong showing in the Middle East with the Challenge Tour’s NBO Golf Classic Final at Almouj Golf the Wave in Muscat, Oman won by the headline billing for the event, Ricardo Gouveia. Shortly thereafter, The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai hosted the DP World Tour Championship, won by European Tour Player of the year, Rory McIlroy.
We were also thrilled to have hosted the Asian Tour’s inaugural Ho Tram Open at The Bluffs in Vietnam, won by Sergio Garcia. This event added to the excitement of The Bluffs receiving the “World’s Best New Golf Course” award in November.
In North America, the PGA TOUR’s OHL Classic at Mayakoba was played again at El Camaleón in Mexico with Graeme McDowell claiming victory in exciting fashion, winning in a playoff. Rounding out an incredible list of tournaments and courses, our Tiburón Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Florida hosted both the LPGA CME Group Tour Championship, won by Christie Kerr, and the PGA TOUR’s Franklin Templeton Shootout, won by the two-man team of Brandt Snedeker and Jason Dufner.
2015 was by all accounts a remarkable year not only for GNGCD, but a truly transformative year in golf that set us up for what is sure to be a noteworthy 2016.
