West Palm Beach, Fla. (February 10, 2017) – The Greg Norman Company (GN) and the University of Miami (UM) today announced five finalists for “Greg Norman’s Search for the Next Great Sports Entrepreneur” taking place at the UM Sport Industry Conference.
Greg Norman and his team of investors held a worldwide search to discover the next successful entrepreneurs, inventors, creators and innovators in sport. After receiving hundreds of applications from around the world – including eight countries and five continents – the following finalists have been selected to present to Norman and his panel at the University of Miami Sport Industry Conference on March 24, 2017 for a chance to receive the financial backing and investment needed to jumpstart their venture:
- FIOMET – Scott Rap, MD
- Spalk – Ben Reynolds & Michael Prendergast
- Snaptivity – Volha Paulovich
- Game Cart – Pete Bastawros
- The Grint – Jose Torbay
“I am a firm believer in entrepreneurship and the impact it can have locally, nationally and globally. To have the opportunity to discover the ‘next best thing in sport’ and to give a head start to some young man or woman is really special to me,” said Greg Norman. “I myself am an entrepreneur and having made the shift from a professional athlete to a businessman required me to have a vision and also someone in the business world who believed in that vision. It is thrilling for me, almost three decades later, to have the opportunity to do it for someone else.”
Following the competition, Norman will be delivering a keynote speech on entrepreneurship, brand building, and his pioneering shift from athlete to businessman. Those looking to attend the event can purchase tickets at www.miamisportconference.com. Space is limited.
“The University of Miami is thrilled that Mr. Norman is dedicating the level of attention and interest in finding, mentoring and providing opportunities for the next great sports entrepreneur during the UM Sport Industry Conference,” said Alicia Jessop, University of Miami Sports Administration professor. “Mr. Norman’s commitment to sharing his entrepreneurial knowledge and expertise with future sport business leaders allows the University of Miami to further its mission of creating knowledge.”
