Cathedral Lodge Named ‘Best New Private/International Course’ By Golf Magazine
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (November 16, 2017) – Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) — the premier signature golf course design firm in the world – is honored to announce its latest design, Cathedral Lodge, has been named “Best New Private/International Course” by GOLF Magazine.
Located two hours northeast of Melbourne and set in the stunning Yarra Valley, the ultra-exclusive Cathedral Lodge covers 300+ acres and is back dropped by the rolling hills of the Cathedral Ranges. The par-72, 18-hole championship course takes advantage of the Australian landscape’s running creeks, natural gorges and native flora and fauna to create a unique and memorable experience on each hole.
The 7,023-yard layout is grassed with Santa Ana Couch and T1 Bentgrass, featuring five par-5s, five par-3s and a unique bunkering design. GOLF Magazine praises, “Greg Norman the architect is fast approaching the success levels Greg Norman the golfer.”
“Words cannot express the pride and excitement I feel to receive this prestigious accolade by a magazine that is considered the gold standard in golf course design review and rankings,” said Greg Norman. “I am immensely happy for my team and for the Evans family who had the vision to build this special course. There is nothing else like it in Australia – or the world for that matter.”
Privately owned and developed by Australian Entrepreneur David Evans and located on the family farm, Cathedral Lodge recently celebrated its grand opening on October 14.
“Greg and his team have delivered a quintessential Australian masterpiece. It is everything that I dreamed for and more,” said Evans. “The stunning layout truly highlights the beauty of Australia and its landscape and we could not have asked for anything better.”
