NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Shark Wake Park (SWP) announces the launch of South Carolina’s first full-size cable watersports park opening Friday, June 17 at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex.

Cable wakeboarding, the newest addition to a distinguished list of action sports throughout the world, allows for the best of the extreme nature of wakeboarding, without the need for a boat. Shark Wake Park is committed to building and operating the world’s best cable wake parks and strives to grow watersports by bringing wakeboarding to the masses.

The brainchild of Greg Norman Jr. (son Hall-of-Fame golfer Greg Norman), Shark Wake Park is the latest venture from parent company, Great White Shark Enterprises.

A professional kiteboarder and wakeboarder for 15 years, Greg Norman Jr. grew up traveling the world with a passion for watersports. An accomplished golfer in his own right, Norman Jr. was driven to establish himself as an athlete outside his father’s shadow. After graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Business Management, Greg joined the family business working as part of the Business Development team. Inspired by his father to combine his personal passion and entrepreneurial drive, he decided to utilize his extensive experience in both the wakeboarding and business realms to open Shark Wake Park – the first located in North Myrtle Beach.

“When searching for a location for our first park, North Myrtle Beach immediately came to mind and we have been so fortunate to experience true southern hospitality from everyone in the community,” says Norman Jr. “We are thrilled to be in the heart of the Carolinas and my hope is that Shark Wake Park becomes another landmark attraction for both locals and tourists alike.”

Located in the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex, Shark Wake Park features both a 5-tower full-size cable and 2-tower cable system via Alta Cable Ski complete with UNIT Parktech features. Shark Wake Park is open to all skill levels from first-timers to professionals. It will be one of the easiest systems to learn on while also allowing advanced riders to go as big as they like on the same cable at the same time.

In addition to the cables, the park will also feature:

  • Shark Shack for food, refreshments, beer and wine
  • Pro Shop
  • Ronix wake gear featuring a “Try it before you Buy it” program
  • Wakesurf school (coming soon)
  • Aqua Park (opening 2017)

“This liberating action sport is an expression of each individual’s style that encourages self-motivation, discipline and physical and mental strength,” Norman Jr. added. “I want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy this wake-culture and experience the freedom of being out on the water.
