Highly Anticipated Shell Bay Debuts as the First New Private Golf Club in the Miami Area in More Than Two Decades
Envisioned by Witkoff Group and PPG Development, the Greg Norman-designed course and Shell Bay Club will set a new standard for private, world class golf in North America
MIAMI, FLA. – Leading real estate development firms Witkoff Group and PPG Development announce today the opening of The Shell Bay Club, a new destination in South Florida anchored by a 7,254-yard private championship golf course designed by World Golf Hall of Famer Greg Norman, which also features a 12-acre practice facility and nine-hole Par 3 course. This 150-acre enclave is a last-of-its-kind opportunity in the Miami region for water-accessible, new development of this scale, complete with luxurious lifestyle elements and a partnership with renowned hospitality brand Auberge Resorts Collection to bring a boutique resort and bespoke residences to the destination.
“The course at Shell Bay will be one of the most unique, pure golf experiences I have ever designed,” says course designer and golf legend Greg Norman. “Completely isolated from its surroundings, the walkable layout will capture the true essence of the game with immaculately conditioned fairways, sweeping sandbelt-style bunkers and contoured greens that test every club in your bag. It will be a place where you can totally immerse yourself in the game.”
The championship course features a purposefully sustainable design set within an isolated environment between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway. Golfers will be tested with a variety of risk-reward shot making options alongside water challenges most prevalent from the championship tees. At 7,254 yards, it offers one of the longest courses in South Florida with a slope rating of 148 and a course rating of 76.1. Complementing the championship course is a Par 3 course where players experience tactically entertaining concepts including punchbowl, Redan, and double plateau greens.
The Bays, a state-of-the-art golf practice facility where passion meets technology, is among the only establishments worldwide that offers this combination of innovation and amenities. Beyond the training facilities, The Bays also offers a tranquil al fresco dining experience for members at the chef’s open kitchen, featuring a menu of comfort food favorites and signature dishes rotating weekly. The chef’s kitchen marks the first concept in Shell Bay’s culinary program, with a larger dining venue to follow once Clubhouse construction is complete.
“Golf is the most undersupplied asset in the Miami market, and consequently, Shell Bay is a generational opportunity to create the first new private course in the area in 25 years,” says Alex Witkoff, Co-CEO of Witkoff Group. “A project like this can’t be replicated.”
In addition, the forthcoming Residences at Shell Bay will offer a rare ownership opportunity for buyers seeking an elite living experience within this coveted golf destination. The collection of 108 bespoke, Auberge-managed condominium and penthouse units will feature expansive, panoramic views of the championship golf course and the Intracoastal Waterway. Homeowners can expect Auberge Resort Collection’s award-winning caliber of high touch service, with premium amenities and programming including private in-residence dining, a dedicated director of residences and concierge, personalized fitness and wellness programming, and more. Sales for the residences are released in exclusive, limited phases led by Douglas Elliman Development Marketing.
Homeowners and members will enjoy a thoughtfully curated amenity offering, including a premier racquet center with four Grand Slam tennis surfaces, pickleball courts, and padel courts; a 48-slip private marina for direct water access; a private members’ clubhouse with an indoor/outdoor wellness spa; elevated event spaces; an array of dining venues; and a fitness center featuring small group programming, open air training, basketball court, batting cages, and more. All programming within Shell Bay has been carefully designed with world-class athletes and industry experts to cater to both an ultimate lifestyle and peak-functioning performance. In addition, Shell Bay will soon welcome a 60-key boutique resort by Auberge Resorts Collection.
“Shell Bay has the best amenity package of any luxury project in South Florida – there’s nothing like it,” says Ari Pearl, founder and president of PPG Development. “We feel strongly that the vision for Shell Bay will resonate with today’s luxury buyer.”
Adds Bob Bryan, ATP men’s doubles champion and consultant for Shell Bay Racquet Club, “The Shell Bay Racquet Club will offer one of the most comprehensive and luxurious experiences for racquet sport enthusiasts in South Florida. Not only will players have an opportunity to hone their skills on championship quality court surfaces – including clay, grass, and hard court – but they’ll also have access to premier pickleball and padel facilities, along with world class performance training, exhibitions, and programming. The racquet sport offering at Shell Bay will undoubtedly rival the breadth and caliber of the state’s most sought-after tennis clubs.”
