Shark By Two - Another Masters
Greg Norman was back in Melbourne looking for yet another Australian Masters title. Entering this year’s event, Norman already boasted five gold jackets and accompanying hardware. In all, Norman has 10 Masters appearances and has finished inside the top 10 every year.
When all was said and done, Norman took top honors at Huntingdale Golf Club once again. It was increasingly rewarding for The Shark as this was his fist tournament title of the year.
Norman finished at 19-under par after rounds of 68, 67, 70 and 68 and held off Nick Faldo, Mike Clayton and John Morse by two shots. The 273 total equaled Norman’s astounding performance in the 1987 Masters.
Norman was paired with Faldo on the final day. Two behind, the Shark holed an incredible chip early in the round that set the tone. Norman coasted home with a 68 to Faldo’s 72.
“I always loved playing with someone as competitive and talented as Nick Faldo,” Norman said. “He delivers fierce competition and we enjoy a great rivalry that will continue for years to come.”
